Entebbe - Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Early breakfast and transfer to airport for your domestic flight to Kisoro. Flight time is approximated 1 hour. You will arrive in Kisoro to be welcomed by our expert guide and head for a community tour that includes a visit to a coffee farm. At the coffee farm, you will have the opportunity to learn about the sustainable farming practices in the Virunga massif and is a great way to promote social change through ecotourism. After the tour, we will transfer for lunch at a marvelous lodge with panoramic views of the Bwindi Forest. A recently proclaimed World Heritage site, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is one of the most biologically diverse areas on earth and its unique, precious flora sustains roughly half of the world population of mountain gorillas – believed to number just 600. There’s also a substantial chimpanzee population and research shows that Bwindi is the only forest in Africa in which these two apes live together.

Meaningful adventures on foot
These off-the-beaten adventures connect you with the people and the rural landscape.
We've been offering these exciting off-the-beaten-path adventures to our guests since our journey began sixteen years ago. These experiences made us fall in love with the humble people and the gorgeous rural landscape and continue bonding hundreds of guests that visit us every year.

The Buniga Forest Trail showcases the symbiotic relationship the Batwa pygmies had with the Bwindi jungle before they were ousted to turn the forest into a protected reserve. To reveal their unique heritage and traditions to the world, the Batwa people, through their community organization NCCDF take tourists into their small pocket forests, showcasing their historical nomadic cultures when they occupied the jungles.
Guests walk an hour to a Batwa-enacted settlement. Here, they'll observe how the women prepare, cook and serve a meal. They'll engage with medicine men, learn about the lush forest flora's medicinal properties, and hear ancient legends and traditional songs. They'll learn about the Batwa's fascinating way of life, from religion to their food gathering and hunting techniques, and how they made fires from rubbing sticks.
The Buniga Forest Walk provides the means for the Batwa to preserve and earn an income from their culture and heritage. The forest walk is a source of employment for the Batwa guides with employment and enable women sell their crafts to the visitors.

Hike into the archaic hunter-gatherer cultures of Uganda's Twa forest people on this exciting Batwa Cultural Trail in Mgahinga National Park. The Batwa Trail leads from the base of Muhuvura Cave into the jungle museum showcasing a pygmy forest tribe that used to live in the rainforest Park. These tribesmen were hunter-gatherers and fierce warriors who depended on the forest for shelter, food, and medicine. In creating the Mgahinga National Park, they were forced out of the park and rehabilitated in the villages that surround the park.

Nkuringa Bwindi Gorilla Lodge sits on Nteko Ridge, surrounded by a vibrant native community village. Nteko Ridge Community Walk showcases the village cultures, people, colors, and some of the most captivating aerial scenes of the wide Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, the far backdrop of volcanic mountains and misty clouds over Nkuringo.
The walk is guided by community walking guides trained by our adventure brand, Nkuringo Walking Safaris. It starts at the lodge and takes about 3-4 hours to walk around the village and back.

Prepare to be enchanted as you rise through the evergreen and montane marshes of Uganda's lush forest floor. Your birding trail will lead you to the breathtaking Buhoma Waterfall, where the thunderous roar of pristine river water crushing against enormous rocks will leave you in awe. The waterfall is set in exquisite verdant terrain. It is truly a sight to behold, especially with the prolific birdlife adding to the symphony of sound.
Uganda is acknowledged as a birding utopia, with over half of the bird species found in Africa, making it the leading birding destination. The Buhoma Waterfall Trail is a must-visit for birding enthusiasts, as you can spot the White-tailed Ant Thrush, dapper francolin, splendid Black Bee-eater, Yellow-eyed Black, and African Sooty Flycatchers along the green bamboo zone.

Discover the exclusive beauty rituals at Nkuringo's only Mist Spa. Well recommended by our guests after the pleasurable but tiring gorilla tracking excursion into the rainforest jungle.
“At our mist spa, be prepared to feel rejuvenated after this fabulous treatment. Take this holistic journey to well being where you will slumber into relaxation with a 60-90 minute relaxing full body massage. Restore harmony of body, mind and spirit in a natural surrounding. End your treatment in our relaxation area with some herbal teas and fruit or herb infused water."

Gorilla Trekking Experience
Following an early breakfast at the lodge, you will drive to the park headquarters for a morning briefing from the rangers at 8.00 am before you enter the gorilla sanctuary. Throughout the trek, you will be accompanied by experienced guides and trackers who will offer insightful information about the endangered mountain gorillas. Once you have found the gorillas, you will be allowed to spend 1 hour observing them from a 10-meter distance. The thrill of your encounter will erase the difficulties of the potentially strenuous trek. Each encounter is different and has its own rewards, but you are likely to enjoy the close view of adults feeding, grooming and resting as the youngster’s frolic and swing from vines in a delightfully playful display.
After tracking transfer back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
