Masai Mara
Set at nearly 2000m above sea level, Maasai Mara is a great wedge of undulating grassland in the remote, sparsely inhabited southwest of the country. Arguably the best animal reserve in Kenya, a Maasai Mara safari will take you right up against the Tanzanian border which is an extension of the Serengeti plains in Tanzania. Covering an area of 1,510 square km, the Masai Mara National Reserve is a land of abundant wildlife, endless plains and breathtaking vistas.

Covering an area of 1,510 square km, the Masai Mara National Reserve is a land of abundant wildlife, endless plains and breathtaking vistas.
Destination: Year round wildlife
A land of short grass and croton bushes, Maasai Mara’s climate is relatively predictable, with ample rain, and the new grass supports an annual wildebeest migration of half a million animals from the dry plains of Tanzania. Named after the Maasai people who inhabit the area, a Masai Mara safari is a excellent destination for year-round concentration of game as well as the two million animals that make up the Great Migration.
Destination: Cultural Experiences
One of the great attractions of this particular safari destination is the cultural experience with the Maasai people. Make sure you try out one of the many sensitive cultural excursions and experience the lifestyles of the local communities. The Maasai Mara has abundant wildlife all year round. Whether you’re watching a pride of lions hunting, hyenas squabbling with vultures, a herd of elephants grazing in the marsh, or the migration you will not be disappointed with the safari experience.

Masai Mara National Reserve
Following an early breakfast, depart on a morning game drive, returning to the camp mid-morning.
After lunch, and perhaps a siesta, set off on another game drive and visit to the Masai Village, returning to the camp as the sunsets.
OPTIONAL: Shared Hot Air Balloon Safari
Early morning shared transfer in the balloon company vehicle to the balloon staging site. You'll meet the pilot who provides a safety briefing while the crew inflate the hot air balloon. At sunrise, your shared hot air balloon lifts off over the African plains. At times, your pilot will ascend to a higher altitude to give you an overview of the ecosystem. Then you descend to treetop level to silently observe the wildlife from above. After about 50 minutes, you land and are met by the balloon staff to transport you to your shared bush breakfast. You then return to your camp or lodge.

Tarangire National Park
A holiday to Northern Tanzania and Swahili Coast is incomplete if you don’t go on wildlife tours. The Tarangire National Park has the second-highest concentration of animals and birds after Serengeti. It is also believed that Tarangire has the largest concentration of elephants in the world, and these gentle pachyderms dot the landscape like grazing cattle. Even lion sightings are more common here than in any other game reserve in Tanzania.
Overview
Even lion sightings are more common here than in any other game reserve in Tanzania. It is good for you that the Tarangire is not as publicized as its more famous cousin, the Serengeti. It means there are no crowds to jostle with and no human clamor to drown the call of the birds. There are 750 winged species here. The Tarangire National Park is as mysterious as it is wild. Great baobab stands dot the landscape here; they seem to date back to a time when the earth was still a smoldering, bubbling cauldron not inhabited by life. Giant termite mounds spring up from the sun-baked ground and give the landscape an otherworldly look. A trip to the Tarangire is like going back to the beginning of Time.
